So yes this was a few weeks ago but I have been waiting until I could post some pictures along with the post.
John took me on my dream date about two weeks ago, it was amazing. He took me to Messina Hof Winery in Bryan Texas. We did the wine tour where we got the history of the winery, a tour of the vineyard, shown how they make the wine, and the best part....a taste testing! After the tour John entertained me at the Messina Hof restaurant which was deliciously amazing! Messina Hof is totally worth the trip it was really educational for a wine-o and lots of fun for a notso wine-o ie John...
The bottle of Messina Hof I bought when I found out where we were going alongside the beautiful flowers John brought me
At the restaurant, in what they referred to as the "king and queen" chairs
So we both look pretty goofy in this picture, but I had to post it, the sparkly red man? That would be Paulo MessinaHof
And just because this is hilarious....John and Justin practicing their dance moves before we went out that night lol

Will winter ever be here????
So today I had my first day of training for my on campus job. I will be working at the Welcome Desk at the University of Houston Campus Rec Center. The fitness center was blizzardly cold which made me crave winter. Especially when I went outside and it was 104 degrees. I can't wait to wear great sweaters and fantastic coats. So in my hope and preparation for winter I started looking for some great Winter wear

Fantastic New Layout!!!
Thank you so much to my bestie best girlfriend Stephanie who is significantly more computer savvy than I am! She created the awesome new layout you are now currently seeing on RedWineandPinkRoses!!! I personally love love love love love it!!!!
OK so now for some real blogging! Of course most of you all know by now that I don't eat meat, but I looove food! That can lead to some problems because a lot of times vegetarian dishes aren't always highly regarded as um....delicious?? Well I have a blast entertaining my palette while all the same sticking to my no meat diet
The other day I was at HEB and they had whole wheat gnocci on sale. For those of you unfamiliar with gnocci it is essentially a potato dumpling, it is delicious and very filling. Today for lunch I decided to play around with the gnooci and see what I could come up with. The result....
Tomato Gnocci!
Super duper easy lunch for one!
I sauteed some red and green onions, and a few cloves of minced garlic in some olive oil. After that letting wilt down I added some diced roma tomatoes. While I was working on the vegetables I boiled the gnocci, it takes about two minutes (super quick!) After both were ready I plated the gnocci and poured sauteed vegetables over it and topped it off with some crumbled feta cheese. I think some basil on top would be delicious as well! I absolutely loved it and hope you'll give it a try as well!

How can I help you?
My friend Stephanie asked if I could help her find some tunic style tops that she could easily pair with leggings. She has a beautiful baby girl who keeps her very busy so she needs to be comfy but of course like any girl wants to look fab while she's out and about. Here's what I've come up with in the way of tunics

Long time no type....
OK I apologize for not posting in awhile, it's been a hectic few days with getting ready to move and all. So here's an update of the goings on around here...
Friday night my mom, a friend of ours, and I took my Dad out for his birthday. For anyone in the Weimar, La Grange area, this restaurant we went to is a MUST. It is called Murphy's Steakhouse and it's in Winchester. My dad had a steak which he loved, and my mom had the hugest shrimp ever! I of course had a a salad and baked potato, but the best part was the wine! I had two glasses of wine for get this...$5! So fantastic and it was tasty wine I might add!
Saturday my girlfriend Jessica and I decided to go shopping. To say the least it was an eventful trip. Long story short we got done shopping and my car was missing from the parking lot afterwards...yah...scary much? Turns out a scam tow company towed my car (for parking in the parking lot the store told me to park in) Apparently this is something they do every Saturday in the Montrose area so be warned! All in all though the trip was a blast and I got some great things (although I left them in Jessica's cousin's car who was nice enough to drive us to the storage lot to get my car...shout out to Meg!!!!) The exciting (good exciting mind you) part of the day was I got my ears pierced!!! (yes, I realize that I am 22 and don't have ear piercings and that's weird, but I am caught up now!)
Sunday I got the keys to my new apartment!!! WOOOOOO!!!! Very exciting! Mom, Jess and I decided we would start moving some stuff, so Sunday was a fun filled, sweat inducing day of moving. I will post pictures of the apartment soon!
Last night Ellie and I went to a baseball game! My office was the sponsor for last night's Tomcat game and we got to give out rally towels! It was a blast and the Tomcats of course won, which made it even better!
Disclaimer: Please excuse my oh so unfashionable black polo, it was a work event! On another note, shout out Donna's Attic in Columbus for the super cute sunglasses for a whopping $10!
2nd Disclaimer: Excuse shotty pictures, these were all on my phone, because my camera is currently out of commission, but I will have it back soon!

Hummus and Wine Night!
Once a week (ok sometimes more) I love to have hummus and wine night. I make my own hummus and try a new wine almost every week. This week however I decided to revert back to an old favorite!
Bohemian Highway Chardonnay is absolutely delish and of course because I am a cheap wine-o it's under $13.00 a bottle! Try some! It's fantastic!

School Clothes!
I am thoroughly excited about being back in school this fall. What's not to love about the start of school? The school supplies, the new friends, the nervousness and the best part of all....the new clothes!!! Today I felt the need to add a few items to my wardrobe for the purpose of being the most fashionable girl in the Education department!
This dress with the intention of pairing it with the following belt
This adorable romper!
As well as this one!
And these shoes that of course will pair wonderfully with all of the above!
Yay me! I love the beginning of school

It's not what it is...it's what it could be
Much like life, decorating on a budget requires the philosophy of "it's not what it is but what it could be." For the past few weeks I have been hitting estate sales, auctions, flea markets and garage sales trying to furnish my apartment without spending a ton of money. The best part about shopping on a budget is the rush! It's quite satisfying when you find the perfect piece for little to nothing! Over the weekend I started working on all of my "perfect pieces"
My first purchase was actually a very nice gift from my mom and dad. It's an iron bed frame that they found at a garage sale for $50
The finished product! I painted the bed frame ivory and now it looks perfectly dainty!
My second purchase was this table. I got if from a resale shop for $40
Finished product! I painted the base of the table with a light blue and then put white over and then distressed some of the paint!
Saturday my dad and I went to an estate auction and I found this fabulous coffee table for $22.50
Finished product! I painted the coffee table a light pink but didn't do a very heave coat so that some of wood would come through the paint
I also got these mirrors from the estate auction and I got them both for a whopping $15
Finished product! I painted a blue coat underneath and then put a white coat and then distressed it. I distressed one more than the other for a bit more of an eclectic look
Close up of mirrors
I had a blast doing all the painting this weekend and I still have a few more pieces to do. I will post those as soon as I finish them. I think I am on the way to the perfect shabby chic apartment!
